Lily
Group Yoga Classes

Like other yoga schools, we teach classical yoga postures. However, we emphasise proper breathing combined with movement, as the breath is a powerful tool for restoring structural, functional and psychological balance.

Classes for each program guide you to regulate and lengthen the breath and use breathing to enhance the natural movements of the spine and back. With the support of the breath, you will practice sequences which progress with balance, incorporate vinyasa or linked asana and change each season or term. Depending on the purpose of the practice, you may also experience seated pranayama or breathing techniques and simple meditation.

Seasonal Yoga commences throughout the year in Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. Classes are non–competitive and individual guidance and adaptations are given when needed so the practice is usually suitable for new to experienced participants. Class numbers are limited to ensure optimum supervision and learning.

Winter Timetable

Mondays from 25 July to 19 September 2011 between 10am and 11am. Cost $144.

Thursdays from 28 July to 22 September 2011 between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Cost $144.

Meditation Classes

Svastha meditation classes are designed to prepare the individual for the extended periods of concentration required to connect with the deep sense of inner peace which comes from genuine meditation.

Each class begins with a brief series of movements specifically designed to prepare your body. Following this preparation, you are guided to use breath and sound in various ways as an aid to the process of meditation itself. Breath is the link between the body and mind. The breath can lead the body towards wellness and the mind towards calmness.

The use of sound is one of the most important core practices to bring tranquility to the mind. There is a wealth of material in the ancient texts on sound, chanting and their relation to the mind. In Svastha meditation classes participants use sound in the form of short syllables or phrases with a positive, uplifting meaning recited aloud as a group or silently and internally. This is based on fundamental psychological and phonetic principles.

The program is suitable for new and experienced participants; modified practices are given when needed. Participants are encouraged to take a comfortable position for meditation, either seated on the floor or on a chair.

Guidance for developing a short personal meditation practice is also given on request.
